For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome (1 John 5:3).

Do you delight in keeping God's commands?

We are to guard the commandments of God like prison guards watch over their prisoners. John uses the term "keep," meaning to guard or keep watch over. It emerges in Acts 12:5-6 of Peter being kept in prison. Not only are God's commandments to be obeyed, they also should be our delight, which is conveyed by the words "are not burdensome." King David writes a prophecy about Jesus' delight in God's will. He pens, "Behold, I come; In the scroll of the book it is written of me. I delight to do Your will, O my God, and Your law is within my heart" (Psalm 40:7-8). As the writer of Hebrews describes Jesus' obedience to the Father's will (Hebrews 10:5-8), we should follow in His path!

Employment Point: Demonstrate the love of God by keeping His Word with delight.
