“Unless I See”

Thomas needed to physically see Jesus to believe. Are we the same? Do we believe that the things Jesus has done can be done through us? What would it take to believe it?

Jesus breathed on his disciples and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit,” empowering them to do the kinds of things Jesus has done. Jesus gives His followers the Holy Spirit! Those who truly know Him and walk with Him have “seen.” Those who have read Scripture thoroughly have witnessed the power of God throughout history and should be ready to proclaim from the rooftops what God has done, what He is doing, and all He continues to do!

We are called to believe that God has raised Jesus from the dead. Belief is more than knowledge; it involves conviction. We know many things, but our belief should be in the power of God, who chooses to work in and through people like you and me. The same God who raised Jesus from the dead is in YOU! His Spirit within you enables you to do far more than you think or imagine on your own.

Scripture is filled with stories of how God’s inadequate people show up and learn to trust in Him, and then He does miraculous acts through them. He is still at work today, calling people to trust in Him and watch as He sends His Spirit to empower them to do incredible things.

Thanks be to God for choosing us. He chose YOU. What does that look like for the world today?

Reflection:

Whose life is being changed because YOU have the power of the Holy Spirit in YOU and are a living testimony to God’s work in the world?
