God & Science

2 DIENA NO 7

God Likes Science Don’t believe the rumors floating around out there about faith and science. The fact is that God likes science. If God got a bumper sticker, it might say, “I (heart emoji) science.” If teenage Jesus had a bedroom poster, it might have been the periodic table. The word science comes from the Latin scientia , which means “knowledge.” Since God likes knowledge, he absolutely likes science. The apostle Paul explains why: “What may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen” (Romans 1:19,20). God wanted to be scienced, to be known. So what did he do? He created stuff you could touch and taste and test. God likes it when we study science because praise is data driven. When we know how babies grow from peanut to grapefruit to watermelon in the womb, we end up impressed with our awesome God. When we grasp how sleep and screenings and stress affect our holistic health, we gasp at the connections God wired through our bodies and brains. When we figure out how sunlight and exercise and meditation can combat depression, we are discovering how God put the puzzle pieces of joy together. God likes it when we get it, because he likes it when we get him. God likes science. You can too.
