News that changes everything

It was the first time I had been asked about my faith. I had recently given my life to Jesus and I was equally excited and terrified. I launched into a monologue that started with the fall of Satan. Yep, I botched it. I don’t know when her eyes glazed over but I guarantee what she heard wasn’t good news. What do you classify as good news? A cancelled meeting right when your task list is in the red. A glowing school report from a child who is struggling. Great moments sure, but some news changes everything – the end of a war, a positive pregnancy test, cancer in remission.

When the Gospel is truly received and explored, it’s news that changes us. It moves in, renovates our hearts, reorders our loves, heals what’s broken, and sets us on a new path. And maybe that’s where the sharing begins. Maybe the best way to share the Gospel is to first let Jesus do His miracle in us: in the places we hide, in the habits we excuse, in the wounds we still carry. As we come to Him with honesty, repent where He convicts, forgive where He leads, and receive His mercy, our lives begin to demonstrate the Gospel. People notice redemption because they can see it at work in us. So perhaps instead of stressing about how to communicate the entire Bible contents in a well-delivered speech, I can focus on loving Jesus and experiencing His goodness so that when people ask, my words simply match my life. The best news we share is the news Jesus is writing in us. Mercy received, chains broken, shame traded. So, let the transforming love of Jesus take root and then simply share the story of hope you’re living – that’s news I want to hear.

Sharing Good News

“The love of Jesus is too incredible and life-changing to keep to ourselves. When we experience something good in our lives, we are quick to share it with others. Why not the life-changing love of Jesus? When we’ve experienced His goodness and grace, how can we not share the good news?” (How Can We Not Share About Jesus! – Leila Armstrong)
