30 Scripture Based Prayers for Your Marriageಮಾದರಿ

Lord, help us to spur on one another.
I’m so glad that the Lord decided Adam needed a help mate and so the picture of relationship and marriage started early on in the Bible. Unknowingly it set the tone for what I would look for in a husband. I saw my dad live out this call of leading my mom as an incredible spiritual leader and also watched my mom live out her call to be a wonderful helper. When I met Micah I knew that it was important to me that we be able to navigate this life together. I accept my position as wife and the call for me to be led by Micah, but I also desired the idea of a companion who could walk alongside me in life and point me to the right things.
Micah is a quiet leader. He is humble in his guidance toward me. Sometimes his leadership is just by example and sometimes he offers me the encouragement I need to continue stepping into the roles and responsibilities the Lord has placed me under. When I’m prideful and selfish, he reminds me of my heart for the Lord and his people. When I’m tired and worn down, he lovingly picks up some of the slack without so much as a word. He truly spurs me on toward love and good deeds, just like the writer of Hebrews encourages us to do for one another in Hebrews 10:24 (NIV).
The context of Hebrews 10 is that the Jewish Christians were under pressure and persecution and the writer reminds them of their hope of heaven. That it is real and set apart for the believers, and that we inherit all that if we continue on with endurance. It’s so important that when the pressures of life feel heavy and our faith feels weak that we have a spouse who encourages us to keep pressing forward in love and allowing the Lord to work through us in good deeds for his Kingdom.
Today’s Prayer:
Lord, thank you for the gift of marriage! I pray today that I would be a husband/wife who points my spouse toward you, who reminds them who they are because of what you’ve done, and models service for your glory. I pray that I will be an encouragement toward love and good deeds and that we will run this race well and run it together!

Bringing your marriage before the Lord is both powerful and redemptive. When two imperfect people stand on Scripture and invite God to strengthen their bond, they build a defense the enemy cannot break. What a gift to know God is for your marriage, and for you. These next 30 days are an invitation to declare his Word over your relationship and trust him with what only he can do: protect, grow, and fortify your marriage from the inside out.
