Kids: Dare to Live Generously! By Wycliffe Bible Translatorsಮಾದರಿ

What Even Is Generosity?
With Jesus as your Savior, you get to be God’s kid and live your life to obey and honor Him, which is the very best kind of life! One way He wants you to honor and obey Him is through generosity.
“Generosity” and “generous” are fancy words that mean loving to give and share what you have with others. Did you know that Jesus will help you want to be super generous? It’s true! You can be super generous in ways like this:
- Give your time to help others around you. You could rake leaves for your neighbor and collect canned goods for your church’s food pantry.
- Discover your talents, which are gifts from God, and use them to bring praise to Him. You could use your voice to sing worship songs to God. Or use your art skills to draw or paint in a way that points to God. Or play your best on your sports team with fairness and an attitude that honors God.
- Give and share the things you treasure with others to bless them too. You could donate some of your toys and clothes to children in need. Or invite a friend to join you in a hobby that you love.
- Spread kind, encouraging words to others. You could write a nice note or say something kind to let someone know you’re thinking of them and cheering them on.
- Pray for others, asking God to help with their needs and praising Him for blessings.
- Keep your heart and mind full of love for God and all people — the people closest to you and the people all over the whole world.
Do you know what’s extra cool about generosity? Jesus promised that when you’re generous in giving and sharing with others, He keeps giving and sharing more and more with you! In fact, in His Word, God said, “Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full — pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap” (Luke 6:38a-b, NLT).
You know how when you throw even just a tiny pebble in water, it can create a really neat, giant ripple effect? Being generous creates a kind of ripple effect too! In the Bible, Revelation 7:9a (NLT) says, “After this I saw a vast crowd, too great to count, from every nation and tribe and people and language, standing in front of the throne and before the Lamb.”
That’s just one amazing picture of what heaven will be like! Generosity is important not just right now but also in the future — and what you do today can help many people love God and be with Him forever.
Prayer Point:
Dear God, please help me to learn more about what it means to be generous. I want to get excited about giving to others. I believe Your promises about what happens when I give. Please keep on showing me how all of Your promises are true and that I can trust You more and more! Amen.
