DAY 2 – The Power of Relationships
What if the key to fully living out your calling was not found only within you, but also in the people God has placed around you?
We live in a culture that celebrates independence, especially in the business world. We are taught to rely on ourselves and measure our worth by what we can achieve alone, but in the Kingdom of God, the rules are different. Solitude and independence are not signs of strength.
God designed our lives—including our calling—as part of a greater body, where every member needs the others in order to function at their best. This applies to our professional calling, too: none of us is meant to build alone. We need someone to encourage, support, challenge, and remind us—when we lose perspective—that God has not stopped working in our lives.
Proverbs says it clearly: “Iron sharpens iron, and one person sharpens another.” (Proverbs 27:17, CSB)
God-centered relationships are not only meant to comfort us, but also to refine us. We need voices around us that do not feed our discouragement but remind us of who we are, to whom we belong, and where we are headed. (Ecclesiastes 4:9–10)
How many times has a phone call, a shared coffee, or a simple word spoken at the right time brought us back to Truth?
Surrounding ourselves with people who have the courage to speak truth in love, who see our potential when all we can see are our flaws, and who help us realign with what God says about us, is one of the best choices we can make for ourselves.
Maybe what we need today is not a more perfect plan, but a friend’s voice bringing us back into alignment with God’s trajectory.
Reflective Questions:
- Who in your life helps you see God’s hand more clearly in moments of doubt or discouragement?
- Who, in your work or personal life, might need your voice as a source of encouragement today?
Prayer:
Lord, thank you for the people You place along my path. I often try to manage things on my own, but today I recognize how much I need relationships that help me walk in alignment with Your will. Give me discernment to recognize the voices that speak from Your heart. And let me also be a source of encouragement to those around me who need it. Amen.
