Uncuffed: Bulletproofing the Police Marriage

DAY 6 OF 40

# Sex In Marriage > 19 A loving doe, a graceful deer— > may her breasts satisfy you always, > may you ever be intoxicated with her love. > Proverbs 5:19 (NIV) Are you having sex with your spouse? If you are, then amen. If you are not, then now’s the perfect time to talk about it. Excluding medical conditions or unique situations, sex in marriage is vital to maintaining a great relationship. Isn’t it funny that as hard as we try to get each other into bed before we’re married, sex is usually the first thing to go once we are married and say, “I do.” God’s design for sex is a lifetime of pleasure and delight. Sex should be something we enjoy and look forward to in marriage. In a healthy relationship, there is effort and forethought given towards sex to make it amazing. However, Satan’s ultimate goal is that we will be ashamed of our sexuality so that we won’t talk about sex with our spouse. The good news is, you don’t have to live a life full of frustration, shame, and rejection. Through talking about important issues, we can overcome any obstacles preventing us from experiencing sex in marriage. Sexual fulfillment works in the 2:24 Unit, but it doesn’t come without active pursuit on the part of both of you. Sex and money are usually where we fail to communicate about issues. We’ll talk the life out of something that happened on duty, but clam up in the bedroom. Too often the simplest things erode into long-term issues and because sex is so vital to your relationship, it takes the brunt of the pressure. Never undervalue the importance of sex with each other. It’s very, very important. Now, get out of here you crazy kids, and enjoy each other. CALL TO ACTION: How’s the sex in your marriage? Are you still pursuing each other with the passion and vigor you once did? If not, then take this time to talk about it. Ask why or why not, and do not judge or accuse each other. Simply talk about the status of your marital sex.
