Breaking Your Flask

Devotion: Mary didn't unscrew a cap. She didn't pour a little and save the rest. She broke the flask. Shattered it. Made it irreversible. There was no going back, no changing her mind, no reserve supply.

Breaking the flask meant she was all in. No Plan B. No backup. No "just in case." She destroyed her safety net in one act of worship.

We want to worship Jesus without breaking anything. Open the jar, pour a little, keep most of it, close it back up. We want to follow Jesus with a backup plan. Obey God with an exit strategy. Surrender with our fingers crossed behind our backs.

But that's not how biblical worship works.

When God called Abraham to sacrifice Isaac, there was no Plan B. When Peter left his nets, he couldn't go back to fishing. When Paul said "forgetting what is behind," he meant it. They broke their flasks.

What flask do you need to break? That relationship you know God said to end? That compromise you keep making? That comfort zone you keep retreating to? That control you keep taking back?

Breaking your flask is terrifying. It feels like loss. It looks like waste. But here's what Mary discovered: when you break your flask for Jesus, the fragrance fills the whole house. Everyone notices. Everyone remembers. Everyone encounters Jesus.

Two thousand years later, we don't remember Mary's security or savings. We remember her broken jar. What you break for Jesus becomes your legacy.

Declaration: "I break my flask today. No backup plan. No exit strategy. No reserve. I am completely, irreversibly, all in for Jesus. What I break for Him becomes my legacy."

Prayer: "Jesus, I've been trying to follow You with one foot in and one foot out. Forgive me. Today I break my flask. I smash my backup plans. I destroy my exit strategies. All in. All Yours. Forever. In Your name, amen."
