なぜなら、律法を実行することによっては、だれ一人神の前で義とされないからです。律法によっては、罪の自覚しか生じないのです。 ところが今や、律法とは関係なく、しかも律法と預言者によって立証されて、神の義が示されました。 すなわち、イエス・キリストを信じることにより、信じる者すべてに与えられる神の義です。そこには何の差別もありません。 人は皆、罪を犯して神の栄光を受けられなくなっていますが、 ただキリスト・イエスによる贖いの業を通して、神の恵みにより無償で義とされるのです。 神はこのキリストを立て、その血によって信じる者のために罪を償う供え物となさいました。それは、今まで人が犯した罪を見逃して、神の義をお示しになるためです。
