OVERCOMING SHAME
“This is how we know that we belong to the truth and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence: If our hearts condemn us, we know that God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything.” 1 JOHN 3:19–20
RECITE GOD’S GOODNESS
O Lord, my Lord, You are slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. You have forgiven my sin and given me Jesus’ perfect righteousness. I praise You!
EXPRESS YOUR NEEDINESS
Lord God, help me fight this shame with the truth of Your complete forgiveness in Jesus. Free me from guilt and oppression, for there is no condemnation for those who belong to You. Remind me that no one can bring charges against those You’ve justified in Jesus. How great is Your love!
SEEK HIS STILLNESS
Take a few moments to rest your heart in God’s presence, aware that God is greater than your heart, emotions, and anything that threatens to come against you. Wait patiently on Him. Is there anything He wants to say to you?
TRUST HIS FAITHFULNESS
When the enemy reminds me of my past failures, help me remember Your great love and forgiveness. You are faithful to complete the work of sanctifying me and making me more like Jesus, and I will rejoice in Your salvation.
