Pitching Your ProposalCampione

Pitching Your Proposal, Part III
Today, we will continue discussing Carmine Gallo’s three recommendations for developing a pitch or promoting your organization as discussed in the Harvard Business Review. Gallo’s second tip is to identify one idea you want your audience to remember.
Gallo recommends focusing on one of your customers' needs and attaching one idea to that need. For instance, when Apple launched their first iPod, they promoted the concept of “1000 songs in your pocket.”
In Luke 9:24 Jesus taught, "For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for Me will save it."
Jesus knew the Jews needed salvation from eternal damnation; therefore, they were likely to remember his paradoxical statement.
For a successful pitch, identify your customers' need and clearly communicate how you are meeting that need.
Questions for Reflection:
- In the above Apple illustration for the iPod, what is the customer need, and what is the solution?
- In Luke 9:24, what is the Jewish leaders’ need, and what is the solution?
- In your personal or organizational pitch, what is the customer need and what is your organization’s solution?
