Deeper in Worship

DAY 7 OF 28

Day 7—Worship God and serve Him only

Devotional
Worship is about declaring God’s worth: “For You are great and do marvellous deeds, You alone are God (Psalm 86:10 NIV). He is sovereign, magnificent, almighty, and powerful. Declaring His attributes will draw you into deeper worship. We see the four living creatures and the elders doing this in heaven (Revelation 4 NIV). When you worship and serve Him only, you are stating that all the glory belongs to Him. You won’t give your ultimate devotion to something or someone else: “…give me an undivided heart, that I may fear Your name” (Psalm 86:11 NIV). And the more your heart responds with worship, the more you are giving Him pure, joyful surrender. In Matthew 4, Satan’s temptation was aimed at detouring Jesus with earthly glory, but Jesus stood firm: “Worship the Lord your God and serve Him only” (Matthew 4:10 NIV). You, too, may face moments where the world is offering you counterfeits in place of worshipping God: success, comfort, or approval. But every time you choose to serve Him only, you are echoing Jesus' victory.

Prayer
Father, thank You for being the giver of all good things, but please prompt me by Your Spirit when any of this competes with my devotion to You. I declare that You are unrivalled, unmatched, and wholly worthy of all the glory, worship, and praise. Help me worship You without compromise and train my heart to remain undivided. Amen.

Application
Today, consciously turn every task into an act of worship—in your work, pause briefly to declare His goodness; as you walk, sing out your praise; as you sit to rest, give Him thanks.

About this Plan

Deeper in Worship

"Deeper In Worship" is a 28-day plan designed to help you grow in your love for God through a fuller understanding of why and how we worship. Worship is for God alone; it is deeply spiritual, often physical, and a journey into encountering the presence of God. The plan includes a daily Psalm and a New Testament passage. It finishes with a short devotional, a prayer, and a suggested application.
