The Gospel of Matthew

DAY 3 OF 30

A Life Set Apart

Every now and then, you meet someone who knows exactly why they’re here—and they live it boldly, without apology. That was John the Baptist. From his wild attire to his strange diet, John wasn’t trying to fit in. He was on a mission, and his message was clear: “Repent!”

Nearly 30 years had passed since Jesus’ birth, and now John makes his way onto the scene, preaching in the wilderness. His call was simple but powerful: turn from your sin and return to God. Repentance wasn’t just about feeling sorry—it was about a turn in direction, moving from self-centered living to God-centered obedience.

John’s role was to prepare hearts for Jesus. He didn’t draw attention to himself; he pointed everyone to the One who was coming. And when Jesus arrived to be baptized, it wasn’t because He had sin to repent of—but to publicly affirm His mission and model surrender to the Father.

We, too, are called to live set apart—bold in our obedience and clear in our message. Not to bring attention to us - but to point others to Jesus.

Respond to God’s Word

Is there any sin hardening your heart to God’s Word? Take a moment today to repent, ask for His cleansing, and invite Him to lead your steps forward.
