Biblical Story: Esther (Esther 4:12-16)
Theme Verse: 2 Corinthians 4:17-18
We are eternal beings made in God's image, and our lives have an eternal purpose. His eternal plan for us is greater than the temporary world around us. You are special, and you are not here by accident!
In 2 Corinthians, the Bible tells us that what we can see with our eyes is temporary, but the things we can't see—like God’s plans for us—are eternal. Even though the things we experience every day may seem like the most important things, God’s plan for us is so much bigger and lasts forever.
Let’s look at Esther’s story from the Bible. She was just a regular girl, living her life, until God placed her in the right spot at the right time to save her people. She didn’t know at first what her purpose was, but she learned that she was made queen “for such a time as this!” God had a plan for her that was part of His bigger eternal purpose—just like He has a plan for each of us.
I remember opening a brand new lego set from its box and looking at the instructions on how to put it together. These sets might come with instructions to build just one specific thing, but with a little creativity, you can use the same bricks to create all sorts of new things. You’re not limited to just what the instructions say.
In the same way, sometimes life, work, or school might feel like it’s the same routine over and over, like you’re just going through the motions. But God says you are made for so much more. He has created you with a unique purpose that will last forever. Your purpose is “outside the box!”
You have an important role in God’s big plan. Whether it’s being kind to someone, helping out at home, or praying for someone in need; you’re living out your purpose. You might share with someone about Jesus, invite others into a new Bible reading plan together, donate to a special cause, or serve on a team at your local church. Every small or large action you take can be part of God’s eternal plan. You were made for such a time as this, and God is calling you to something eternal and much greater than what you see or imagine right now!
Questions:
1. Do you believe that God created you with a special purpose?
2. For what purpose do you think God created you?
3. How does it make you feel to know that God has an eternal plan for your life?
Theme:
We are eternal beings made in the image of God, and our lives have an eternal purpose. His eternal plan for us is far greater than the temporary world around us.
