A Little God Time for Girls

DAY 5 OF 5

Father Time

Even though Daniel was a slave, he was one of the most powerful men in the kingdom. The king had given him power over all Babylon. Daniel was responsible for a lot of people, so he had a busy schedule. But still Daniel went to his room three times a day, got down on his knees, and prayed. That very important man knew what was most important in his day—spending time with God.

Life gets busy with swimming practice, homework, birthdays, and church events. And still, there’s nothing more important—and amazing—than getting to spend time with our Heavenly Father who just happens to be the creator of the whole universe.

Here are a few things you can do to spend time with God:

  • Praise—Praise God for who he is. (You are so forgiving, God!)
  • Thank—Thank him. (Thank you for helping me with my science homework yesterday.)
  • Confess—Confess anything you’ve done wrong. (God, I got impatient with my mom tonight. Please forgive me.) (Mom, I’m sorry I was impatient and disrespectful.)
  • Read—Read a chapter of the Bible or one psalm or proverb a day.
  • Ask—Ask God to speak to you through his Word. Tell God what you need. Pray for others.
  • Listen—Be quiet in his presence, away from your smartphone or music.

Dear Lord, thank you for taking time to meet with me—anywhere, anytime, about anything. I’m excited to spend time with you and to get to know you. Amen.
