A Little God Time for Girls

DAY 1 OF 5

Hope

I hope I get Mrs. J. for my teacher.

I hope we can go camping.

Hope is that sparkle of excitement inside that keeps us going. There’s always that possibility that even if today isn’t that fun or exciting, something better will come along.

What happens when what you hope for doesn’t happen? When you don’t get Mrs. J. as your teacher and your dad says it won’t work to go camping. Or worse, when the person you hoped would be your best friend says unkind things about you. Then what?

Everyone talks about hoping for something—a good grade or a spot on the softball team. The problem is that people and circumstances change. If that’s where our hope is, we’ll be disappointed—a lot.

Isaiah 40:31 shares we should be hopeful in someone. God never changes. He’s always good, always loving, always in control. Even when it doesn’t seem like it. Even when bad things happen. Hope in God is never disappointed.

Dear God, I know that you’ve put desires in my heart, to do, go, and be different things. But things and people and places change. Help me to put my hope in you— the only thing that stays the same from day to day. Amen.
