1Q: Following Jesus for RealSýnishorn

Although he knew who Jesus was, Peter did what many of us do. He tried to alter God’s plan. He loved Jesus and didn’t want Him hurt.
However, Jesus was having none of it. He corrected Peter, pointing out the fact that to choose any path other than God’s is to side with God’s enemy, Satan, no matter how seemingly noble one’s motivation for doing so might be.
To serve God is to deny self, your selfish desires and your desires for those you love. If Jesus had to suffer for God to glorify Himself, we should expect to suffer for God’s glory, too. Those who truly love God want to see Him glorified and will, in the end, do whatever it takes to see Him lifted up.
Thank God for the privilege of sacrificing for His glory like Jesus did.
