## Humility Before Pride Pride and humility are words used in the Bible to describe the attitude of our heart towards God. Pride is a common protective response of defense when any of us have a hurting heart. I often feel a sense of pride rising when I’ve been hurt in a relationship. However, if I only jump to defend myself, I may be missing an opportunity to learn more about myself and God’s transforming love. Choosing humility means I take time to have a good look at myself and my actions, asking God to give me a right view of myself as His loved child. It also means I keep my heart open to being teachable and remain willing to see where I can change my thinking and actions. I often ask God to help me grow up before I grow old. I don’t want to be arrogant or a know-it-all. Instead, I want to keep trusting God with my heart and learning His ways of grace and love.
