Upset the World

4. NAP A(Z) 4-BÓL/-BŐL

Day 4 Upsetters Upset the World “So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields” (Matthew 9:38). People who upset the world love seeing others give their lives to Christ. But the best upsetters aren’t just focused on the moment of salvation. They know there’s no harvest without sowing (sharing the Gospel) and watering (showing people kindness), They enjoy the entire agricultural process and express their faith everywhere they go. Remember, the harvest belongs to God, and He’s the one who gets credit for it (1 Corinthians 3:6–7). Jesus tells a parable in Matthew 13:3–8 about a farmer who scatters seed across his field. Now, if taken literally, this story has pretty terrible farming advice because the farmer doesn’t even check to see if the ground is thorny or stony. He just throws the seeds everywhere! But that’s Jesus’ point. So many believers get caught up on making sure the seed sticks or explaining their faith in a way that people can understand, but those are the jobs of the Holy Spirit. Our job is simply to sow the seed. For years, I have gotten pedicures on a regular basis. (I have zero shame about wanting to have presentable feet.) I recently found a great nail spa that’s close to my office. The girl who does my toes told me that she stopped going to church because it’s full of hypocrites. Do I push her to visit my church? Nope. I just spend my visits sharing how Jesus has upset my life. I just keep sowing seeds. As believers, we’ve all been called to upset the world. We don’t have to ask the Lord if it’s something He’s called us to do. There’s no need to pray and fast about it. He’s clearly said in His Word that we’re to “go and make disciples” (Matthew 28:19). The Bible calls this “The Great Commission,” but it could also be called “Go Upset the World.” I encourage you to take some time to pray about whom the Holy Spirit wants you to upset. Ask Him to put some people in your path this week, or even today. Just like the farmer in the parable, take a handful of seed and chuck it! And then ask the Holy Spirit, “What’s my assignment? Am I sowing, watering, or harvesting?”
