Break TrailEgzanp

There's nothing as tasty as grandma's cooking! Chocolate pie, fried chicken, or maybe her special mac-n-cheese! There's always that one item a grandma is known for that the rest of the family can't wait to eat! One day, you get the courage to ask her for the recipe. You've been sworn to secrecy because the recipe is family gold! You write down every detail of what you're supposed to do and how everything should turn out.
When we think about Easter, we think of Jesus dying for our sins and rising from the dead. It's important to remember the recipe of our redemption was spelled out in the Old Testament. God described in great detail, the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus hundreds and thousands of years before he came to this earth. Redemption can also be seen as forgiveness or restoration, the bringing together of what is lost or scattered. Being mindful of these truths helps to ground our faith to share it with someone else.
What does it mean to share the story of Easter with someone? Could it go beyond a conversation?

If you're a hiker, you know a trail-breaker is someone who walks ahead, makes a new way, and invites others to follow. That's exactly what Jesus did for us. He broke a new trail with his birth, his life, his teachings, and then with his death and resurrection. In this 30-day devotional series designed for Lent, we’ll see how Jesus showed us a new way of living and knowing God.
