Have you ever given up on someone? Someone who really deserved it? Maybe you got sick of them ghosting you, or breaking your trust, or never putting in the effort to hang out, or the way they really hurt you. It's pretty normal to hurt each other, get fed up with each other, and fail each other. It's kind of part of being human, I think.
It even happened to Jesus when Judas, one of his closest friends and disciples, betrayed him. Now, if one of our friends did to us what Judas did to Jesus, well, let's just say we probably would not handle it well. Which is why it is a good thing Jesus isn't like you and me. Because even though we might give up on each other, even when we deserve it, Jesus never gives up on us.
