The AnticipationEgzanp

Simeon is our focus for the reading today. He was waiting for a promise he had been given that he would see the Messiah. Notice especially the prayer of praise that Simeon prays as he takes baby Jesus in his arms.
Simeon’s prayer essentially spells out the gospel message to us. He recognized that by holding Jesus in his arms, he was holding the source of his salvation; not only his own salvation– the salvation of his people and ultimately the world!
As we read today, let’s reflect on the scope of what Jesus and his message have accomplished through history and the fact that it all started with a baby being born.
