The AnticipationEgzanp

Thank you for joining us for this reading plan looking at key characters from around the time of Jesus' birth and what we can learn from them.
Today we will reflect on Elizabeth’s story.
Elizabeth needed a redeemer.
She knew God, but she had no child. In Jewish culture, barrenness was viewed as a curse, and the shame of her childlessness shadowed Elizabeth every day.
Waiting for her Messiah, she held out for hope. Then, one day her husband, Zachariah the priest, had an encounter in which God promised the longed-for gift of a child. Before long, God’s goodness and redemption became truly visible as she found out she was expecting a baby! This baby would go on to become John the Baptist.
She spent the next five months secluded, in reverent awe and marveling at God’s mysterious grace and faithfulness.
Like Elizabeth, we can look to God to provide where we need something and help us through the painful things in our lives.
We can remember that God is always faithful and will never leave us, believing that He will be our provider just as He was for Elizabeth.

Konsènan Plan sa a

The Jewish people were all looking forward in anticipation of when the Messiah would come and make things right. In this plan, we take a further look into different characters around the time of Jesus' birth and ask how the way in which they were waiting could speak to us today.
