Not only does God want us in relationship and communication with him, we need to continue to talk to and listen to one another as we walk through this process. Community and communication is how we keep our hearts in check. In order to be open to the process of restoration, we need to keep a tender, warm, and compassionate heart, not only toward God but also toward those around us. You may be asking how we can do that. Truthfully, we can do this by keeping short accounts with one another, and by exercising forgiveness and repentance. When something small escalates, we know that we have kept a long account, which requires us to talk things through. When we talk with those who have offended us, it gives us the opportunity to forgive. Repentance is a change of mind that results in a change of lifestyle, so when we examine our own hearts, we may find there are things we need to repent of as well in order for true restoration to happen.
Questions:
When was the last time you checked in with your community?
Is there someone you need to forgive? Reach out and begin a conversation with them.
Is there something that you need to repent for? Ask the Holy Spirit to search your heart for that area needing some attention.
