Uniqueness and Limits
Job 38:8, 10, 11
“Who shut up the sea behind doors…when I fixed limits for it…when I said, ‘This far you may come and no farther; here is where your proud waves halt’?”
1 Corinthians 12:18
“But in fact God has arranged the parts in the body, every one of them just as he wanted them to be.”
Every part of creation evidences God’s design and purposes. Each person is unique, created by God to fulfill a purpose in his kingdom. It is God who creates and arranges, it is creation that responds. There are also limits in creation that help us understand our place. We understand our unique function in God’s created order through the limits that he gives us. Those limits are often in relationship with other parts of God’s created order. The sea waves halt at the shore, just as one part of Christ’s body prefers another because of gifting or function. Knowing who we are and who we are not, is a gift we can give to others.
Father God, thank you for making me as I am. May I honor others and know my limits, for your glory.
