Can you picture what the psalmist is saying? The Holy Spirit spoke to a person’s heart, the person recognized it and wrote in response: “Lord, what You’re saying to me by Your Spirit, I’m saying back right now. I’m going to do it.”
I recently came across this thought: “Spirituality is the sum of our responses to what we believe to be the voice of God.” That’s a great definition of spiritual growth—tuning our hearts to what the Lord says and responding on His terms.
You’ll find it happens best when you have sufficient time alone with Him to hear His voice, to record His words to you, and to live as His Holy Spirit directs you.
