So Sincere

Sincerity, regardless how powerful it may be, cannot overcome the fundamental weakness sin brings to our nature. Charlie Brown says of his baseball team, “How can we lose when we’re so sincere?” But lose they do, and likewise many sincere people lose sight of God’s way of victory, drifting into deception without realizing they are off-target.

But if our hearts are open to God, and we acknowledge before Him our ability to be deceived, something wonderful happens. When we humbly and daily admit our need for His teaching, correction, and forgiveness, He responds to us and helps us past deception’s blind spots.
