Hope & Healing for Families of Drug Addicts and AlcoholicsPrimjer

You are NOT alone.
The day I found out my husband was an alcoholic, I kept it to myself and battled the storm all alone. I didn’t think anyone else would ever understand what I was going through. How could they, those who weren’t living day in and day out with an alcoholic? I began to isolate myself and keep our little family secret behind closed doors.
Then one day God sent a friend to share with me about her husband’s battle with addiction and how he was two months sober. I thought, I'm not alone. She gets it.
I soon learned about Finding Hope, a faith-based support group for loved ones of addicts and alcoholics. I was scared to attend that first meeting, so I invited my friend to go with me. We walked in together, and there once again God showed me that I was not alone and that these people get it.
And YOU are not alone either.
As I looked around the room I realized addiction doesn’t discriminate. The room was filled with moms, dads, grandparents, spouses, and siblings who all loved someone addicted to drugs or alcohol.
God doesn’t want us to go through the storms of life alone. He wants us to carry each other’s burdens and support one another through every up and down. Each of us needs a community of people who understands the struggles we face day in and day out.
That is what Finding Hope did for me. I found people who get it. God placed these people in my life for a purpose. These people pray for me and give me strength, support, love, and HOPE.
Today I want you to know that you are NOT alone.
Today’s Challenge:
Don’t sit in isolation any longer. Reach out to a safe person to share about your storm, and get connected to a support group with others who understand what you are going through.
“Finding Hope has given me the tools to face this giant with others, and I don’t feel so alone and helpless.” Judy (wife & mom of an addict)
