Do Something—High SchoolPrimjer

Do you remember the first time you experienced a taste of freedom? Maybe it was when you were a kid and your parents let you ride your bike around the block by yourself. Or when you were allowed to stay at home without a babysitter. Maybe it was when you got your driver’s license and drove somewhere on your own. That feeling of freedom and possibility is amazing. Sometimes we handle freedom well. Other times? Not so much. In this letter to the church in Galatia, Paul tells us as followers of Jesus we have been called to freedom. But that freedom is not an invitation to do what we want without any consequences. We are called to a freedom that leads us to serve each other and to look out for other people’s best interest. The freedom we experience in our lives should lead others to the same kind of freedom. That’s what love looks like. Today, use your free time to serve someone else—not because you have to, but because you can.

Have you ever seen something in the world around you and thought, “Someone should do something!” Whether it was a kid being bullied at school, children in other countries without enough to eat, or someone in your neighborhood being judged by the color of their skin, what you’re seeing is injustice. We’re going to discover how much Jesus cares about injustice and how we can do something in response.
