The trunk full of gifts symbolizes lost opportunities to give. Verses 41-46 are a solemn reminder that a missed opportunity to serve someone, is a missed opportunity to serve Jesus. Furthermore, we are reminded of the gift of Jesus’ love. How many times have we left that gift unopened? Or taken it for granted? Jesus lavishly gives us His love, grace, and mercy. So what is stopping us from leaning into that and truly accepting the greatest gift of all? There are many things in life that we try to wrap into shiny presents, but those things fade away. They decay. Jesus is the everlasting gift. When we remember that, we are truly able to share that gift with others.
