When God Seems Late

DAY 3 OF 6

When Everything Gets Worse Before the Miracle – Day 3

Before Jesus performed the miracle, everything seemed to fall apart.

“When Mary reached the place where Jesus was and saw him, she fell at his feet and said, ‘Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.’ When Jesus saw her weeping… he was deeply moved in spirit and troubled.”
(John 11:32–33, NIV)

Jesus wasn’t indifferent to Mary’s pain. He wept with her (John 11:35, NIV). But even in His tears, He was preparing the miracle.

The people of Israel went through something similar. When Moses demanded freedom, Pharaoh hardened his heart, and their labor became even harder (Exodus 5). Things got worse before they got better. But what looked like a setback was part of their deliverance.

The same happens in our lives. Sometimes you pray, and everything seems to get more complicated. Just when you start trusting, the diagnosis worsens, the job falls through, or the plan fails. But often, that darkness is the backdrop where God’s glory shines brightest.

Practically speaking, it’s like childbirth—the pain increases right before new life arrives. Likewise, the greatest pressure may be the sign that your miracle is about to be born.

Talk with God and open your heart:

Father, when everything seems to fall apart, remind me that Your power is not limited by my circumstances. Keep my faith alive even when I can’t see light. Amen.

Think about this:
What situation in your life seems to be getting worse before it gets better?
Could you keep believing even if you don’t see visible change yet?

Coming up on Day 4: When Your Faith Mixes with Frustration
Tomorrow we’ll see how God responds with love even when our prayers are filled with pain and confusion.

About this Plan

When God Seems Late

Sometimes we pray, trust, and wait… but God seems to remain silent. However, His silence is not absence. This plan, based on the story of Lazarus and other passages in Scripture, will show you that God is never late—His delays are part of His purpose. Learn to recognize His voice in the silence, His hand in the waiting, and His power in the process.
