Day 9: God Will Prune You

Scripture
“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit He prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.” – John 15:1–2 NIV

Affirmation
God will allow me to bear fruit in Christ.

Devotion
Life can easily be filled with endless to-do lists and personal plans that distract us from God’s true purpose. Yet His ultimate plan is what truly matters. John 15 reminds us that when we remain in Christ, we will bear much fruit—but the process often involves pruning.

Pruning happens when God removes the unnecessary so that He can make room for what is necessary. Though it may feel uncomfortable, it is His way of preparing us for greater fruitfulness. As you stay connected to the vine, God will reveal what needs to be cut away—whether relationships, opportunities, or habits—that may be holding you back from His best.

Commit to remain in Him, because it is only in the vine that you will flourish. Through pruning, God strengthens and equips you to bear fruit that lasts, showing yourself to be His disciple.

Prayer
Abba Father,

I thank You for removing anything in my life that does not align with Your purpose or bear fruit. I ask that every branch in me that does bear fruit be pruned so it produces even more. Help me to remain in You, and may Your Word remain in me. You are the vine and I am the branch; without You I can do nothing. Your Word declares that if I remain in You and Your words remain in me, I can ask whatever I wish and it will be done. Today I bring this request of [state request] and believe it is accomplished in You. I declare that I will bear much fruit and live as Your disciple. It is in Jesus Christ’s name, I pray. Amen.
