Day 5: The Great Exchange
At the beginning of the story, the leper lived in isolation outside the camp. By the end, he was restored to community. Meanwhile, Jesus, who once moved freely among the people, had to withdraw to deserted places because of the attention He now drew.
This is more than coincidence. It is a picture of the Gospel itself. Jesus takes our place so that we can take His. He enters our brokenness so we can share His wholeness. He carries our sin so we can share His righteousness. This is the great exchange of grace.
The same pattern plays out in our own lives. Every time we bring something to Christ - our sin, our weakness, our offerings, He gives back something even greater. When we serve, He gives us purpose. When we tithe, He shows His provision. When we pray, He grants His presence. When we share our faith, He deepens our own. We give Him our little, and He blesses us with more than we could ever give.
This is why we follow Jesus. Not because the road is always easy, but because the exchange is always worth it. In Him, we receive life in abundance.
