The Protective Promises of Psalm 91નમૂનો

Day 9: He Will Show You His Salvation
When we come to Psalm 91:13, we read, “Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.” This passage is packed with revelation, beginning with the words “thou shalt tread.”
In the original Hebrew, this phrase means to advance, march, go forth, tread, or walk. This lets us know that when we’re abiding in the shadow of the Almighty, God not only empowers us to tread on our enemies, but He also enables us to advance or move forward into all that He’s called us to do.
In verse 15, God goes on to say, “He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.” In Hebrew, the phrase “he shall call upon me” depicts one who proclaims the Lord’s promises and calls out to Him for help, and God promises that He will answer such a person. When the Lord’s protective promises are in your mouth and you’re abiding in fellowship with Him, He will cause His promises to be activated and come to pass in your life.
The Lord then promises, “...I will be with him in trouble…,” and the Hebrew text is much stronger here than what we have in English. It is strongly saying that He will be with those who love Him, specifically when they are “in trouble,” a translation of the Hebrew word meaning in adversity, in difficulty, in distress, in straits, or in tribulation.
Psalm 91 closes with the Lord declaring, “With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation” (v. 16). This verse indicates that God will keep on giving you years until you are satisfied. When Abraham breathed his last breath, the Bible says he was “full of years.” Amazingly, he had lived 175 years, and at last he was satisfied (see Genesis 25:7-8). In the same way, God promises that we can live until we are satisfied and then depart in peace.
God’s final words in Psalm 91:16 are: “...And [I will] shew him my salvation.” In Hebrew, the phrase “and shew him” infers a full demonstration, and in the context of this verse, it is the equivalent of God saying, “To the one living in My shadow and staying close to Me, I will fully demonstrate My salvation. He will see and experience every aspect of it.”
This brings us to the word “salvation,” which, in Hebrew, includes every form of salvation: deliverance, healing, preservation, prosperity, overall welfare, and any other salvation you can think of. Thus, this salvation is not just about being eternally saved and going to Heaven; it’s about experiencing His life-giving blessings in this life.
Friend, all the promises of Psalm 91 belong to anyone who chooses to abide in the shadow of the Almighty — to anyone who knows and understands the Lord’s Name and proclaims His promises. So make the decision to live in step with the Lord and abide in His presence daily. Put His promises in your mouth and speak them to the Lord and over your life. He will activate them in your life and satisfy you with the kind of abundant life you never knew was possible!
For Your Consideration:
- Just before going to the Cross, Jesus told us the importance of “abiding in the vine.” Carefully reflect on His words, which are recorded in John 15:1-8, and identify who is the vine, who are the branches, and who is the Vinedresser or Gardener. How is Jesus’ illustration here similar to “abiding in the shadow of the Almighty”? How is it different?
- Psalm 91 says that you can go beyond defeating the calamities in your life — You can move forward in spite of them! Reflect on some struggles that you need God’s help to move through right now.
