Fighting the Lie of Not Good Enoughનમૂનો

You Are God’s Creation
When a chef creates, they require ingredients to come up with a new dish. An artist requires various mediums—paints, pencils, clay—to form a masterpiece. A designer needs thrift store finds or decor that matches the theme they’ve dreamed up for a room. Our creativity is revealed as we transform a variety of simple items into something new.
God, however, only needed one thing. Dirt. That’s it.
When I read Genesis 2:7, I imagine a family on a beach building a castle out of sand. Whether the final result is a stunning display of sand architecture or a formation that only slightly resembles a crumbling castle, they share one trait: They’re still just sand and nothing more. Like dirt, there is no movement, no thoughts, no life within a grain of sand.
When God created the first man, he didn’t just mold a life-sized person out of dirt like a sandcastle, he took it one step further. He breathed into his nostrils the breath of life. His creation of dirt became a living, breathing human being—the very first ever.
God’s breath created life.
Can you imagine breathing onto a canvas and seeing the art you’ve created come to life? Or whispering breath onto a photo you’ve just hung on the wall, and suddenly a real, live human stands before you?
How do we even make sense of a God who can form a living being out of dirt?
Our human brains cannot possibly understand what that would be like, no matter how creative our imaginations. That’s how awesome God is.
Not only is he the ultimate creator, but his breath gives life. Abilities and characteristics like these help us see just how different God is from us. And when we recognize his power and awesomeness, it leads us to worship him—not because of what he’s done but because of who he is.
Prayer Prompt: Tell God what you think about his creativity and power to breathe life into dirt to create a living being. Ask God to help you look for and recognize evidence of his creativity and power all around you.

About this Plan

Not good enough…it doesn’t take long for these words to enter a girl’s heart. Not good enough to make the team or be in the popular group; not a good enough daughter, sister, student, friend... the list goes on. But what does it mean to be “good”? In this 5-day plan by author Kelsey Scism, middle school girls will look at God’s view of “good” and how that can shape the way they see themselves.
