Attribute #14 - Glory
Please show me your glory (Exodus 33:18).
Our God is eternally glorious and will fully conform us to the image of Jesus. The glory of God emphasizes His inherent greatness and the majesty of His actions. In Ephesians 1:3-14, Paul masterfully weaves one statement of adoration into each of three paragraphs that He applies to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Since God the Father inherently has a blessed nature, He “has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ” (Ephesians 1:3). Lavishly from “the riches of His grace” (Ephesians 1:7) and “the riches of His glory” (Ephesians 3:16) and from Him “who is rich in Mercy” (Ephesians 2:4) comes these “unsearchable riches” (Ephesians 3:8). How should we respond to these shared blessings? Paul pens about the Father, “to the praise of the glory of His grace” (Ephesians 1:6).
Transitioning to the Son in Ephesians 1:7-12, Paul describes redemption through Christ’s blood as a continual deliverance from sin, according to the “riches of His grace” (Ephesians 1:7). This redemption not only secures salvation but imparts wisdom and discernment to believers “to the praise of His glory” (Ephesians 1:12).
The moment you place your faith in Christ you were sealed with the “Holy Spirit of Promise who is the guarantee of our inheritance” (Ephesians 1:13). The Holy Spirit is God's down payment that what he has started he will complete “to the praise of his glory” (Ephesians 1:14).
We share in God’s glory through the transformative work of the Holy Spirit. Paul contrasts the temporary glory of the Mosaic Law (2 Corinthians 3:7–11) with the eternal glory of the New Covenant (2 Corinthians 3:12–15), stating that believers are being transformed “from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord” (2 Corinthians 3:18).
God’s ultimate sharing of glory will occur at Christ’s return, when we are fully conformed to His image. Paul assures us that the “sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us” (Romans 8:18). Again, he states, “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory” (2 Corinthians 4:17).
Employment Point: God is eternally glorious, and He shares His glory with us.
About this Plan

Attributes of God on F.I.R.E. is a topical study on the nature of God. We will examine fourteen of God’s communicable attributes or perfections that belong to Him that He also shares with us. This study will help us better understand the amazing nature of the Lord, and to pattern ourselves after Him. F.I.R.E. stands for familiarity, interpretation, relationship, and employment. We will use this methodology as we travel through the Scriptures together. Adapted from the book Attributes of God on F.I.R.E., by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
