Help for the Journey When you accept God’s free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ and surrender your life to follow Him, God sends Jesus’ Holy Spirit to live in your heart and transform you into the image of Jesus Christ over time. The Holy Spirit produces spiritual fruit in your life—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control—making it easy for people to identify you as a Christian and convincing them of God’s ability to save and transform. As if this were not enough, the Holy Spirit convinces you of sin, helps you pray effective prayers, helps you understand the Bible and apply it to your life, helps you discern God’s will, equips you with spiritual gifts to serve the Church, empowers you, and gives you peace, joy, and hope. Pretty amazing, is it not? It’s all evidence that’s pretty hard to miss. Does the way that you live your life give evidence of the Holy Spirit’s presence in your heart? Would those around you agree?
