Judas' Apostasy in Light of God's Faithfulness

PÄIVÄ 1 / 10

Judas is one of the most mysterious people in the Bible Apostasy means ‘to leave’ something – often used in connection with losing or renouncing faith in God or His Son Jesus Christ. Many believe that can’t happen, so they don’t believe that Judas was ever really a Christ follower. If he wasn’t, then Jesus picked someone to represent Him who didn’t even believe in Him. Instead of sending the disciples out as sheep among wolves (as Jesus said He did), could He have sent out a wolf among wolves? What would that say about the character of Jesus? If God predestined Judas to be a traitor, then how does that fit with “God is not willing for any to perish”? And if Judas had no choice in the matter, how could he have been guilty? Could a loving God predestine Judas to be a traitor so that His plan would work out? Many say that Judas’ deed was known from the beginning of time – and yet, it was totally Judas’ fault. We can’t have it both ways. So what is the true Biblical story of Judas? It is fascinating, and we will happily find out that God is exactly as the Bible describes Him – the Way, the Truth, and the Life; absolutely loving and wise and long-suffering and good in every sense of the word. Reflection: Are we ready for an amazing adventure into one of the most difficult to understand men in the Bible? And is it possible that through his story, we can learn to appreciate the love of God more than ever before?
