Worship The sight of a praying parent leaves a huge impression on the soul of a child. It trumps any verbal instruction that you’ll ever give to your little one on prayer. This observation caused leading pastor and author Rick Warren to say: “A dad stands tallest when he kneels to pray with his children.” We cannot cave in to popular culture that suggests that we leave our children to form their own opinions about God, about faith, or about prayer. God demands us to take on the role of a teacher—a teacher of prayer. Try today’s prayer exercise with your child: Worship Music is an excellent way to get little kids engaged in spiritual activities. Get a few kid-friendly worship songs that have powerful lyrics. Spend a few minutes in worship together. Consider dancing before the Lord, even lifting your hands to heaven, as a sign of a surrendered heart. Explain the meaning of your actions. For example, dancing means that you’re thankful and happy for God’s forgiveness, love, and blessings. Here are some prayers to pray with your children after worship: After the song ends, choose a couple of the phrases in the lyrics and let them be a springboard to your child’s prayers. Pray for the artists who wrote the song. Ask God to raise up powerful artists that will write songs that will lead many people to Jesus.
