PÄIVÄ 1 / 3

A Fool Has No Delight. “A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself.” Proverbs‬ ‭18:2‬ ‭KJV‬‬ According to Strong’s Concordance, the Hebrew word for “Fool” is, ‘ kĕciyl ’ (H3681) which means, “Dullard, simpleton or arrogant one.” The fool, or the arrogant one, has no delight in obtaining an understanding. The fool would rather seek and trust in his own opinion and counsel. The foolish chooses not to submit to Godly and wise counsel. A fool would rather isolate himself and not surround himself around wise counselors. Proverbs‬ ‭18:2‬ ‭AMPC‬‬ puts it this way, “A [self-confident] fool has no delight in understanding but only in revealing his personal opinions and himself.” Fools are self-confident. Choose to have confidence in the Lord. Choose to have confidence, faith, and trust in God. Trust that God will lead and direct your footsteps. Trust that God will enlarge your borders. Proverbs‬ ‭18:2‬ ‭NLT‬‬ declares, “Fools have no interest in understanding; they only want to air their own opinions.” Fools only want to speak their mind. Fools only want to vent their opinion, instead of receiving Godly wisdom, insight and correction. Fools do not want to gain an understanding or hear Truth. Fools are prideful and pride is deceitful. Fools are deceived and blinded by their own pride. Surrender to wise counsel. Surrender to God’s Counsel. Surrender to His Word.
