Worry. Yes, I do. And yet, as Jesus rightly points out, I’m not going to live any longer by worrying. In fact I’ll possibly shorten my life with stress! And in any case, why shouldn’t I trust in God’s goodness towards me and his promise that he has me in his care. During various times of crisis or worry in my life, I have said to myself, ‘Now is the time to live the rhetoric of your faith.’ In other words, to trust God and to know that I’m more important than the birds who seem to be doing just fine! Wouldn’t it be wonderful to live a life free of worry! Can we? Pray: Dear Lord God and Father, we know there will be times in our lives when we will worry. Please help us to remember your promises to us and to rest in your unfailing love for us. Help us trust that you have our best interests at heart, no matter what the circumstances. Amen.
