Steadfast

DAY 4 OF 5

How can we have a steadfast mind? By now, we know that Jesus can be our anchor, and that our strength is found in God Himself. But often there’s a gap between what we know and how we actually live.

Your mind is one of the most powerful parts of who you are. What you think about shapes how you live. In Isaiah 26:3, the phrase “whose minds are steadfast” shows us that there’s a direct connection between being a steadfast person and the way we think.

So how do we make our minds steadfast? It starts with our thoughts.

In 2 Corinthians 10:5, Paul writes that we must “take captive every thought.” That means when a thought enters our mind, we don’t have to let it stay and grow. Instead, we can grab hold of it and choose not to keep thinking in that direction.

Philippians 4:8 takes it further by showing us where to direct our thoughts: toward what is true, good, lovely, and praiseworthy. And Romans 12:2 explains that when we choose to let go of destructive thoughts and replace them with God’s truth, our minds are renewed and transformed to become more like Jesus.

This is how our minds become steadfast: by creating new habits of thinking that line up with God’s Word.

The truth is, your thoughts don’t have to run your life. You don’t have to stay stuck in cycles of worry, fear, or negativity. The Bible says you can actually have the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16)—a mind that is steady, secure, and set on God.

Like training a muscle, it takes practice. But every time you capture a thought that doesn’t align with God’s truth and replace it with His promises, you’re choosing steadfastness. Every time you fix your eyes on what is true, noble, pure, and praiseworthy, you’re building a mind that is anchored in Jesus.

What is one negative thought you often struggle with? How can you take it captive today and replace it with God’s truth?

About this Plan

Steadfast

What we think shapes how we live. Our thoughts influence our choices, our identity, our relationships, and how we see God. And while we all long for peace, our minds are often filled with the opposite—noise, anxiety, and lies that leave us feeling unsteady. But God offers something better. Join Change Conference as we consider what it means to become STEADFAST. In a world that feels unstable and uncertain, God offers a way to stand firm. We don’t have to be ruled by every thought or emotion. Through Him, we can become steadfast.
