Steadfast

DAY 3 OF 5

One of the main takeaways from Isaiah 26:3 is the concept of trust. The Bible talks about how our minds can become steadfast because we trust in Jesus.

But how do we learn to trust Him when it feels like what we’ve prayed for hasn’t happened, or when it feels like we are waiting forever?

Yesterday, we talked about how David found strength in God. Today, we want to focus on how trust itself can be a way to gain strength—and in doing so, to become steadfast.

Isaiah 40:31 says, “But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.”

Some translations use the words hope or wait instead of trust.

Often, when we think of the word wait, we think of something passive—like we’re just twiddling our thumbs until God moves. But what if it is in the waiting that God is shaping us, making us strong, and helping us become steadfast?

There’s another way to think about waiting or trusting: believing with joyful anticipation that God is at work, doing something good, even when we can’t see it yet. This isn’t a passive hope that waits reluctantly; it’s an active, expectant trust that leans into God’s promises with confidence. It’s like a gardener who waters the seeds every day, even though the sprouts haven’t appeared yet, trusting that growth is happening beneath the soil.

Believing with joyful anticipation means looking for signs of God’s work in your life—even in small, subtle ways. It’s noticing the ways He strengthens your character, grows your patience, or teaches you to rely on Him more fully. It’s celebrating the little victories and the quiet moments of peace, knowing they are part of the bigger work He’s doing.

When we approach trust and waiting this way, we don’t just endure the process—we are transformed by it. Our hearts are trained to hope, our minds are strengthened, and our souls become more steadfast, anchored in Jesus.

What if, in the waiting rooms of your life, God is renewing your strength? Giving you abiding peace and deep trust in your Saviour? Strengthening you so that your mind and heart grow steadfast, rooted firmly in Him?

What if—through praying over and over again, day after day, month after month, year after year—the Spirit is empowering you to move into deeper trust, to mount up like an eagle, to run and not grow weary, to walk and not faint?

Not on your own, but through Jesus. With Jesus. Because of Jesus.

  • Where in your life are you waiting on God right now?
  • How could trusting Him in that waiting help you grow steadfast?
  • Take a few moments today to hand over your waiting to God and ask Him to strengthen your heart, deepen your trust, and help you become steadfast.

About this Plan

Steadfast

What we think shapes how we live. Our thoughts influence our choices, our identity, our relationships, and how we see God. And while we all long for peace, our minds are often filled with the opposite—noise, anxiety, and lies that leave us feeling unsteady. But God offers something better. Join Change Conference as we consider what it means to become STEADFAST. In a world that feels unstable and uncertain, God offers a way to stand firm. We don’t have to be ruled by every thought or emotion. Through Him, we can become steadfast.
