Day 13: God Will Protect You

Scripture
“If you say, ‘The Lord is my refuge,’ and you make the Most High your dwelling, no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.” – Psalm 91:9–11 NIV

Affirmation
God will always protect me.

Devotion
Psalm 91 has always been one of my favorite passages, but it became deeply personal a few years ago. One evening, after coming home from work, I was sitting in my car while talking to a friend on the phone. Suddenly, a car stopped next to me and a young man stepped out. At first, I thought little of it, but then I noticed him pull a ski mask over his face while his friends waited inside the vehicle. It was clear he had ill intentions and likely planned to steal my car.

But when his eyes met mine, something changed. For reasons I can only attribute to God, he froze, turned around, and ran back to his car. In that moment, I knew the Lord had protected me.

What makes this even more powerful is that just days earlier, the Lord had given me a dream. In the vision, I saw someone attempting to rob my home. I shared it with my uncle, and he told me to begin praying Psalm 91. I believe wholeheartedly that praying that psalm was God’s way of preparing and protecting me from what could have been a very different outcome. Since then, Psalm 91 has become my daily prayer of protection.

If you are facing fear or uncertainty today, remember that God is your refuge. No matter how overwhelming life may feel, declare the promises of Psalm 91 over yourself:

• The Lord is my refuge and fortress.
• The Most High is my dwelling.
• No harm will overtake me.
• His angels guard me in all my ways.
• God’s faithfulness is my shield and rampart.

Prayer
Abba Father,

I ask for Your continued protection over my life and family, now and forevermore. Let Your presence be evident in my life today so I am reminded of Your unfailing love, care, and protection. Thank You for commanding Your angels to guard me and for being my refuge. I trust in You and give You all the glory. Today, I declare Your divine protection over my life. It is in Jesus Christ’s name, I pray. Amen.
