Grief Survivor: 30 Steps Toward Hope and Healing

DAY 14 OF 30

A MEMORY BOX

The sky's the limit when creating a memory box. Your memory box might be a suitcase, a chest, or a storage box. Revisiting happy memories can be an important step on the path toward healing and rediscovering joy.

You might want to include a fragrance or aftershave your person enjoyed, a memorable clothing item, a cozy blanket, or reminders of their favorite sports team.

When children experience loss, providing a small suitcase can be a beautiful way to help them through a painful season. Having a tangible place a child can go to remember is also a terrific way to start a conversation with them. Encourage the child to draw pictures, watch a meaningful video with you, or collect sentimental reminders of the person they're missing.

Reflect: If you create a memory box or help a child with one, what would you put in it?

About this Plan

Grief Survivor: 30 Steps Toward Hope and Healing

Losing a loved one can leave you anxious, confused, and even feeling a little bit crazy. The good news is you're not crazy. You're grieving. Author, Beth Marshall understands. After losing some of her favorite family members, she wasn't sure where to turn. She ultimately found great comfort through God's word and by writing straight through the valley until the light began to shine again. You're invited to grab a journal, reflect or write through the daily prompts, and allow the Lord to begin to heal your heart.
