Grief Survivor: 30 Steps Toward Hope and Healing

DAY 17 OF 30

WHAT IF I FORGET?

Going through deep loss can leave you feeling confused and forgetful. Hopefully, over time the grief-related fogginess will lift.

Are you currently doing anything to help keep the memories fresh? Here are a few practical ways to keep your mind and memories clear:

- say your person's name, and encourage others to do the same

- watch videos of happier days with them

- when you get together with friends and family, tell and retell the sentimental, serious and funny stories of your loved one's life

- look through old photos from vacations and other events you may have forgotten about

Reflect: When you have a little time, find a cozy place to sit with a cup of coffee and begin to write about your person. But first, close your eyes and ask the Lord to bring long-ago and recent stories to your mind.

What did you admire about your loved one? What made you laugh? Is there a particular day or season that stands out to you? Write every detail you can remember. You'll be glad you did.

About this Plan

Grief Survivor: 30 Steps Toward Hope and Healing

Losing a loved one can leave you anxious, confused, and even feeling a little bit crazy. The good news is you're not crazy. You're grieving. Author, Beth Marshall understands. After losing some of her favorite family members, she wasn't sure where to turn. She ultimately found great comfort through God's word and by writing straight through the valley until the light began to shine again. You're invited to grab a journal, reflect or write through the daily prompts, and allow the Lord to begin to heal your heart.
