Paul challenges the idea that harsh rules and self-made religion can bring lasting transformation. He says, "Why do you submit to regulations as if you still belonged to the world?" External rules look wise, but they lack any value in restraining the flesh.

Legalism and asceticism often focus on what not to do—don’t handle, don’t taste, don’t touch. But these outward rules don’t change the heart. Only grace can do that. Only Christ can create true holiness from the inside out.

If your relationship with God has become rule-based or performance-driven, it’s time to return to grace. Christ didn’t come to make you religious—He came to make you new.

Daily Application: Ask God to search your heart for any place where religion has replaced relationship. Surrender it and ask for fresh intimacy with Jesus today.
