DAY 5 | FOCUS ON JESUS

Think for a moment of all the things that so easily distract you from Jesus: money, relationships, sports, social media, and, yes, trials. Some of these things can block our view of Jesus so much that we become blind to His goodness and deep, overwhelming love for us. But to be successful in the race that you are called to run, you need to take your eyes off of everything else around you and gaze intently, looking only unto Jesus. Jesus is the Author, the Alpha, the Omega – the beginning and the end, and the One who is your best example of how to run your race successfully.

This passage also instructs us to lay aside every weight and the sin that so easily ensnares us. What weights or sins might be hindering your spiritual progress? What do you need to “lay aside” to “run your race with endurance?”

Consider how you can practically "fix your eyes on Jesus" today. Perhaps it's through intentional prayer, memorizing Scripture, or sharing your faith with someone. Remember, Jesus is your supreme example, and He is not done with you yet! That is good news!

GUIDED PRAYER:

Jesus, help me to focus on You amidst life’s distractions. Let me learn from Your example and draw strength from You daily. Please speak to me regarding the weights and the sins that are holding me back. Help me lay them aside and run my race with endurance.
