Holy Week: A Journey From Jesus’ Death to ResurrectionNäide

Maundy Thursday: Garden of Gethsemane
Jesus’ prayer in the garden can be described in this one word: surrender. But Jesus doesn’t simply surrender. First, He expresses His desire for the Father to “take this cup from me” followed by “yet not my will, but Yours be done” (Luke 22:42).
The Gospel accounts tell us He went through this process of expression and surrender three times.
We often hear that we ought to surrender to God’s plan. And we should. We need to express our desires to Him. That’s what relationship looks like.
Prayer: Jesus, You made a way where there seemed to be no other, and it cost You everything. Thank You for the example You set of what relationship with God looks like. Help me to be honest with myself and with God. Holy Spirit, guide me as I study.
About this Plan

You are beginning a journey through the most important week in history. Come along with us and recline with Jesus at the Passover table, linger in the silence of Holy Saturday, and experience the joy of Jesus’ Resurrection. Each day, we’ll look at what the gospels say about the events of Holy Week and walk through a simple prayer. We’ll follow the S.O.A.P. study method: Scripture, Observation, Application, and Prayer.
